Concerned citizens meet to begin work toward establishing a pregnancy center in Allegany County

1984

A pregancy support center named Birthright of Cumberland opens in laVale, MD

1994

The affiliation is changed to the National Life Center and the name changed to 1st Way Pregnancy Support Center.

2011

1st Way moves office to 310 Race street in Cumberland to be closer to clients being served

2013

1st Way begins a 24/7 helpline staffed by volunteers

2015

1st Way joins the National Institute of Family & Life Advocates

2016

1st Way receives an ultrasound machine through the benevolence of the Knights of Columbus

2017

A volunteer medical director and two volunteer registered sonographers join 1st Way staff

2019

1st Way purchases the 310 Race Street property
